Imaginative Sketching with Samuel Muriithi
Saturday 7 November, 3–5pm · The Bookworm, Gigiri

Have a creative idea you would like to bring to life? This workshop is for you.

It isn't a class where you copy one drawing step by step. Samuel thinks that kind of teaching leaves you able to make one picture and little else. Instead, he'll share how he starts every painting: with small thumbnail sketches, working out the composition before anything is drawn properly. Call it stage zero of painting.

You will learn:

  • how to develop a creative concept
  • how to simplify and strengthen your visual idea
  • how to use thumbnails and rendering skills, such as hatching and cross-hatching, to see your ideas on paper

You'll leave with a way of planning your own work that you can use for any piece, not a single finished copy.

All materials are provided. Just come ready to have fun and bring some ideas to life.

Samuel's exhibition, Singing in the Rain, is on our walls until 8 November.

KSh 3,500 per person.
